The region is also home to the Addo flightless dung beetle, a unique species native to the Eastern Cape and a significant conservation success. Recently, the reserve recorded the presence of the Albany Adder, a rare puffadder snake endemic to this area. Notable plant species in this biome include the hardy Spekboom and Spike Thorn trees, which thrive in the reserve’s distinct ecosystem.
