I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, there is just something about Kenya. This incredible East African destination has everything and then some.
I just returned from hosting nine agents from the United Kingdom, Austria and Russia to experience the country’s ultimate blend of golf and safari. And unanimously, they deemed the Kenya Familiarisation Trip 2024 their best educational experience yet. With Ascot Tours as their preferred partner, they are all now eager to promote Kenya as a premier golf, safari and leisure destination for their clients.
Here are the highlights of the trip.
Nairobi
The Trademark Hotel was the base for the first three nights. Rounds of golf at Muthaiga and Karen Golf Courses, a visit to the Giraffe Centre and site tours of top properties like Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club and Hemingways Nairobi followed. As always, the local culinary excellence was on full display. No empty plates!
Amboseli National Park
From Nairobi, a chartered flight took the group to Amboseli and the Elephant Gorge Lodge. Game drives provided unforgettable wildlife encounters with elephants, buffalo, lions and hippos. The birdlife was just as spectacular. Waking up to the view of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro truly captivated everyone.
Great Rift Valley
The Great Rift Valley region was the next stop. After a scenic flight, it was time for a round of golf at the Great Rift Valley Golf Course. Two nights at Mbweha Camp featured game drives in Lake Nakuru National Park. There is something to be said for watching flamingos and rhinos while sipping sunset cocktails.
Vipingo Ridge
Another charter flight brought the agents to Vipingo Ridge on Kenya’s coast (north of Mombasa). Activities ranged from snorkelling the rehabilitated reefs to playing on the Baobab Golf Course. A traditional dhow cruise along Kilifi Creek, set to the melodies of traditional songs, was an unforgettable experience.
Kwale
The last couple of days were dedicated to golfing at Nyali and Leisure Beach Golf Courses. The luxurious stay at the Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort in Kwale (south of Mombasa) was phenomenal. The resort’s impeccable service and amenities ensured the trip ended on a high note.
