Travel has the power to open hearts, broaden minds and build stronger communities. That’s the philosophy behind Golfing for Change, Ascot Tours’ initiative that blends luxury travel with long-lasting impact.
Our latest partnership, with the inspiring team at iThemba Projects, marks a significant milestone in this journey. Based in the Sweetwaters area near Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu-Natal, iThemba Projects is a non-profit organisation that champions community-led transformation. Thanks to this collaboration, Ascot Tours is sponsoring the mentorship of an Asidlale Early Development Centre, which will provide high-quality early childhood education to around 20 children.
iThemba’s approach goes far beyond education. Their vision is to uplift the entire community, walking alongside residents as partners, not beneficiaries.
One powerful example of this is the Sweetwaters Nutrition Revolution, which aims to combat child malnutrition and stunting through organic food gardens, a community-run seedling nursery, and workshops that teach families about nutrition and sustainable farming. By planting the seeds of food security today, they are building the foundation for healthier generations tomorrow.

Their Youth Mentorship Programs are equally impactful. In a context where many young people grow up without positive role models, iThemba offers life-skills training, group mentoring, running clubs, and leadership camps that foster resilience, hope, and ambition.
They also address the urgent need for local employment. Through their Community-Based Construction Program, iThemba trains unemployed adults in eco-friendly building techniques and hires them to renovate and expand essential infrastructure—like the very ECD centres they support.
For Ascot Tours, partnering with iThemba Projects is a natural extension of our values. Golfing for Change links luxury travel with social responsibility, turning every swing of the club into an opportunity for transformation.
